WATCH: Is That A Threat? Republican Promises Second Amendment Response If Biden Acts On Gun Control

After every mass shooting, Republicans block every measure to address gun control, and in this case, one legislator sounds like he’s actually making a threat against the President of the United States, if he dares to make any moves to protect children in their schools.

Randy Fine is a State Representative in Florida, a Republican, and clearly a shining example of a gun rights activist. Following the mass murder of children in an elementary school in Texas, like every other legislator across the nation, Fine was faced with a decision: stand up for children, or stand up for guns. He doesn’t seem to have struggled with the choice.
I have news for the embarrassment that claims to be our President — try to take our guns and you’ll learn why the Second Amendment was written in the first place.
— Rep. Randy Fine (@VoteRandyFine) May 25, 2022
Yes, that’s a tweet from Fine, combining a little bit of the Big Lie (Biden “claims to be” the president?) with the typical right-wing skewing of what gun control means (we can enact a lot of protections without banning gun ownership, if we’re only willing), and a hefty implied threat — if Biden acts, he’ll “learn why the Second Amendment was written.”
(A screenshot will be available below in case Fine deletes his tweet, or in case it’s deleted for promoting violence.)
Later, instead of disavowing the threat, Fine tried to defend it. In the clip below, he tells reporters that he doesn’t listen to the Democrats he’s supposed to be legislating with, so he doesn’t know or care whether they’ve actually proposed “taking guns,” and isn’t interested in any ideas they advance, including expanding red flag laws.
