For years now, Owen Shroyer has been the right-hand man to conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Both men host shows on Jones’ InfoWars network.
And when Jones joined in on Donald Trump’s January 6th Stop the Steal rally, Shroyer joined in as well. This week Shroyrer has been arrested for his role in the insurrection. He is charged with illegally going into a restricted area on the Capitol grounds and disorderly conduct.
Shroyer made no secret of his involvement that day. At one point, he told the crowd, “today we march for the Capitol because on this historic January 6, 2021, we have to let our congressmen and women know, and we have to let Mike Pence know, they stole the election, we know they stole it, and we aren’t going to accept it!”
Now that he’s been arrested, the radio host thinks it is everyone’s fault but his. He said on his show today, “it wasn’t coordinated — nobody thought that that was going to happen on January 6, except maybe Nancy Pelosi and Muriel Bowser and the feds that were involved and the Capitol Police that were involved because they’re the ones that did it. They’re the ones that stood down, they’re the ones that refused security, and then the police waved the people into the building. It’s all on tape, it’s all on record.”
Shroyer then claimed he was being set up, continuing, “What did the old communists say, show me the man and I’ll find the crime? It’s what they’ve been doing to Donald Trump, it’s what they tried to do to Roger Stone and many other people. So imagine, we now live in a period of time, where they can manufacture an event, have the media go along with it, and then harass thousands of Americans and quote, unquote search for evidence of the crime that they manufacture. This is so criminal, this is so illegal, this is the death of justice.”
