Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeared on Rachel Maddow's weekly MSNBC show Monday night to promote her new book and share her thoughts on the 2024 presidential election, including her usual sharp insight regarding Donald Trump.
Secretary Clinton, who's just embarked on a multicity book tour to promote Something Lost, Something Gained, told Maddow that just because Americans might be tired of Trump's rhetoric, they shouldn't allow themselves to become desensitized to what she called his "constant barrage of outrageous claims."
She urged the same corporate media that was “merciless” with President Joe Biden before he withdrew from the 2024 race amid questions about his mental health to “have a consistent narrative about how dangerous Trump is.”
“I believe Donald Trump has disqualified himself over and over and over again to be a presidential candidate, let alone a president,” she said, telling Maddow that voters should take Trump at his word and “be outraged” by what he says.
Hillary also spoke about the third Russian disinformation attempt to impact a presidential election. "I think it's important to indict the Russians, just as Muller indicted a lot of Russians who were engaged in direct election interference and boosting Trump back in 2016," she said, referring to 2018 indictments against Russia.
But Secretary Clinton also sounded a more optimistic note, saying more American voters are now “rejecting the kind of chaos that he represents,” including a growing number of Republicans who are publicly coming out against Trump and announcing their support for Vice President Kamala Harris.
