Hillary Clinton would not be the first person to point out that Republicans, including some who would previously have been labeled as more moderate, have really fallen into lockstep with Donald Trump, not only continuing to support the most extreme parts of his political agenda, but even standing with him on issues that most folks would have expected to be completely non-partisan — like a full-blown attack on Congress, complete with weapons, body armor, and threats against the life of the Vice President and the Speaker of the House.
However, Clinton, who won the popular vote in her 2016 race against Trump, losing in the electoral college, and who tried to warn the country of the risks of giving him power, is speaking up again, saying that it’s still shocking to see how many Republicans, including those with whom she has worked successfully, and for whom she had respect, have “hung their spines up on the wall” to support Donald Trump, no matter what the cost.
Hillary Clinton slams Republican Party, taken over by “demagogue” Trump:

“They have no conscience, they have no spine. And we are seeing the results of a party that has been taken over by a demagogue.”
There’s a solid reason that the Republican Party has been decried as the “Trump Party” — a Pew Research poll published in October shows that more than two-thirds of Republican voters still want him to have a major role in politics, and nearly half want him to run again in 2024 — and that actually represents a rise in support for the former president since January.
