[WATCH] ‘He’s a Liar and a Traitor’: Elizabeth Warren Calls Out Kevin McCarthy

Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) made the Sunday morning news show rounds to announce that she’ll be supporting a re-election bid for President Joe Biden in 2024 and run for re-election to keep her seat in the Senate.

Sen. Warren also spoke extensively about Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), the GOP’s House Minority Leader who has been doing extensive damage control since Friday’s leaked recording of a January 10, 2021 phone conversation he had regarding removing Trump from office with Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), who now sits on the House Select Committee. Warren employed her usual bluntness by calling McCarthy a “liar and a traitor” for his behavior surrounding the January 6th Capitol attack.

McCarthy continues to deny that he ever told Cheney he intended to suggest resignation to Trump, which Sen. Warren said is “really the illness that pervades the Republican leadership right now,” telling CNN’s Dana Bash, “they say one thing to the American public and something else in private.”

“They understand that it is wrong what happened — an attempt to overthrow our government,” Warren said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “The Republicans instead want to continue to try to figure out how to make [the] 2020 election different instead of spending their energy on how it is that we go forward in order to build an economy, in order to make this country work better for the people who sent us to Washington.”

Sen. Warren also laid out her plan to make sure Democrats hold on to their majorities on both sides of Congress during an interview on “Meet the Press,” saying “I think we’re gonna be in real trouble if we don’t get up and deliver.”
