WATCH: Herschel Walker Argues Against Climate Efforts, Because “Our Good Air Floats Over To China”

Republicans do a lot of arguing against efforts to mitigate the crisis of climate change. They argue that scientists are exaggerating or falsifying the severity of the danger, or that Democrats just want to attack the oil business. However, Herschel Walker may be the first to make his argument, which appears to be a claim that every time the United States cleans up the air, it floats away to China so that we have to start all over again.

Walker is running to represent Georgia in the United States Senate, and current polls at FiveThirtyEight show a pretty close race with incumbent Raphael Warnock, who was elected in the 2021 special election. Polling average shows Warnock with about 48.5% of the vote, to Walker’s 47.5%.

Certainly Walker’s crowd seems perfectly receptive to his assertions that “our good air” just “decided to float over to China’s bad air,” forcing their “bad air” back into “our good air space.”

Check out the clips below via Stephen Fowler of NPR, as Walker first blames China for COVID-19, then lays out a bizarre notion of Chinese air ruining climate efforts.

“They talk about the Green New Deal, you know, climate change. I’m gonna help yall with that real quickly…we, in America, have some of the cleanest air and cleanest water of anybody in the world, so what so is, we’re gonna put, from the Green New Deal, millions or billions of dollars cleaning our good air up. So all of some China or India ain’t putting nothing, into that situation there…since we don’t control the air, our good air decided to float over to China’s bad air, so when China gets our good air, their bad air got to move. So it moves over to our good air space. Then now we got we to clean that back up.”
