WATCH: GOP Ohio Gov. Debunks Trump Lie, Praises Haitian Migrants

During a recent appearance on CBS News, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine debunked Donald Trump's lies about Haitian migrants.

Trump made waves in all the wrong ways during his Tuesday night debate with Kamala Harris. The Vice President continually went on the attack against Trump as he stood at his podium looking down rather than making eye contact with her.

The debate moment that caused the biggest headlines, though, was when Trump told a lie about Haitian migrants. He explained, "In Springfield, they're eating the dogs — the people that came in — they're eating the cats. They're eating — they're eating the pets of the people that live there. And this is what's happening in our country, and it's a shame."

When asked about the rumor, concerning Springfield, Ohio, DeWine told CBS, "This is something that came up on the internet, and the internet can be quite crazy sometimes. And, look, the mayor and Mayor Rue of Springfield says there’s no truth in that, they have no evidence of that at all. So I think we go with what the mayor says. He knows his city."

DeWine then went on to praise the migrants, saying, "These Haitians came in here to work because there were jobs, and they filled a lot of jobs. And if you talk to employers, they've done a very, very good job and they work very, very hard."
