In 2016, Donald Trump stood out as, perhaps, the most unqualified person to ever run for public office. But thanks the the 45th president, many other incompetent people have decided that they should run for office as well.

Larry Elder is one of them. Despite accusations of spousal battery and a litany of offensive statements, he might be the next governor of California. During a recent interview with Candace Owens, the topic of reparations came up. The Republican told the host that slave owners should have been the ones compensated for their troubles.
Elder told the host:
“When people talk about reparations, do they really want to have that conversation? Like it or not, slavery was legal. Their legal property was taken away from them after the Civil War, so you could make an argument that the people that are owed reparations are not only just Black people but also the people whose ‘property’ was taken away after the end of the Civil War.”
Despite all of his issues, Elder has a real shot at overtaking Gavin Newsom in a state where nearly 2/3’s of people vote Democrat.
