Gun safety is an important part of owning a firearm, and an important part of Concealed Carry permit training. However, blatant racism should not be a part of the process.

Below, you can see the video via PatriotTakes, in which the instructor seems to try his hand at stand-up comedy. Pro-tip: if you’re going to use racist stereotypes to make your jokes, just skip it altogether.

Though he defends himself by saying he “roasts” multiple races, the fact is that in his “white people” segment, he uses jokes like “wear a wife-beater” and “make sure there are no minorities,” while for Black shooters, he suggests “lick[ing[ the chicken grease off your hands” before firing a weapon, and blaming a white person for anything that goes wrong — the stereotypes are by no mean equivalent.

“Always shoot the gun right-side up, always like the chicken grease off your fingers before shooting, always make sure there’s a white person around so you have someone to blame for everything that goes wrong in your life.”

You can see the “Firearm Safety for Black People” slide below.

Here’s another video clip, in which Nevada Republican US House candidate Noah Malgeri advertises the event.

The instructor released a response explaining that “the point is for you not to give a sh*t” about facing racial discrimination, and assuring his audience that he thinks racism is stupid, because (he asserts) being racist means being afraid.

Somehow he seems to think this refutes that his presentation was openly, blatantly, violently racist.

Bonus: the Republican politicians and candidates who attended the event, including the aforementioned Malgeri, as well as gubernatorial candidates Michele Fiore (currently a Las Vegas Councilwoman), Joey Gilbert and John Lee (currently the Mayor of North Las Vegas), and U.S. Senate candidate Sharelle Mendenhall, as well as former LVMPD Assistant Sheriff and current candidate for Clark County Sheriff Tom Roberts, weren’t just there for the jokes — a meet-and-greet with them was part of the package, affiliating them directly with the racist and dangerous message of the event.
