This week’s testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson has been particularly troubling to Donald Trump. And Trump obviously knows it. The former President has spent much of the last week ranting about the hearings.
Trump has also attacked Hutchinson directly. And according to Howard Kurtz, this means that some of her testimony is resonating with Republican voters.
The former President first tried to attack the former aide by posting on Truth Social, “Cassidy Hutchinson also forgot to tell the Unselects that she was desperate to go to Florida with certain others of the Trump staff, long after January 6th had come and gone. If I was so evil, why did she fight so hard to stay a part of the MAGA team? This is all documented in writing.”
Trump, as he often does, said that he barely knows the aide. Those around Washington, though, report she was regularly in his presence and often flew on Air Force One.
Cassidy Hutchinson testified under oath, Jan. 6 witnesses who want to challenge her should do the same. Some media conservatives assailing her credibility, but there's a divide on the right @FoxNewsSunday https://t.co/F9NctLQpBI

Responding to Trump’s tantrum, Fox News’ Kurtz explained this weekend:
“Here’s how we know her testimony broke through: Donald Trump is calling her a “wacko,” a leaker, and a liar. Secondly, some conservative commentators who have been dismissing the whole committee as a clown show, attacking her credibility and defending former president. But there’s a split on the right. Mick Mulvaney, Trump’s guy, former acting White House chief of staff, saying he believes Hutchinson.”
Trump, who has regularly been protected by Fox News, is starting to lose traction there. Time will tell if that continues.
