People who identify as Conservatives or Evangelicals or both, have gotten vaccinated at alarmingly low rates. Incidentally, many of these people also make up the Fox News audience. As a result, COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths have surged in traditionally red states.
Brian Kilmeade, however, wants to tell these people that the surge is not their fault. So he conveniently looks for the usual Fox News scapegoats like immigrants or minorities. During his Monday show, the Fox host demanded that Joe Biden tell African Americans to get vaccinated.
While interviewing Congressman Ronnie Jackson, Kilmeade ranted:
“When the United States president is losing patience, he is losing patience with PhDs. They are one of the largest sections of people who aren’t getting the shot. Medical workers as well as, for instance, because only four of ten have gotten the shot. Why doesn’t the president call out African-Americans who put him in office and yell at them to get the shot?”
The anchors at Fox have regularly claimed that Blacks and Latinos are getting vaccinated at low rates. According to a recent NBC/Hart Research Associates survey, blacks are actually the most likely group to get vaccines at 76%. Latinos were second at 71%. White Americans are last at 66%. Those people who identify as Trump supporters only stood at 50%.
