WATCH: Fox’s Chris Wallace Says Trump’s Strategy is Becoming “Untenable”
In the year 2000, the Republicans were able to win a contested election against Al Gore thanks to lawyers. And after losing to Joe Biden, Donald Trump and some in the GOP are looking to run the same strategy back. That goal, however, is going to be much harder to achieve.
In 2000, the Republicans only had to challenge election results in one state, Florida. In the year 2020, they would have to contest the results in a number of different states. On Saturday night, Chris Wallace said that the president’s strategy was “untenable.”
The Fox host began, “I think it’s going to be increasingly untenable because I think you’re going to start to see a lot of the Republican leaders who are now realizing their fortunes and their futures are no longer so directly tied to Donald Trump are going to begin to pull back.”
Wallace continued, “Trump has every right to pursue legal challenges. Other failing candidates have in the past. So far, at least, we don’t see anything to rise to the level of a serious fraud and certainly not a serious fraud that would change the results of elections.”
