Over the last year, there has been a rash of violence against Asians in America. Many of these attacks have been linked to COVID-19 and Conservative media’s attempt to link the virus back to China.
Donald Trump has consistently referred to the illness as “the China Virus.” It is a thinly veiled attempt to mask his failure to contain the pandemic.
Following a mass shooting in Georgia this week where Asian women were targeted, one might think that Fox News would tone down their dangerous rhetoric. Instead, the network hosted a guest this weekend who called for all Chinese Americans to denounce China.
Host Raymond Arroyo asked, “Ying, is that an accurate portrayal of life for an Asian-American, or is this politicizing isolated tragedies?”
Guest Ying Ma responded, “Well, I — I think that what the Biden administration has done, and a lot of its allies, they’ve really over-hyped this.”
The Trump supporter continued, “The second thing is actually to encourage all Chinese-Americans to come out and denounce China for the role that it has played in infecting the world with Covid-19. And, along with that, the Biden administration needs to be very firm in holding China accountable for having done this to America and having done this to the world.”
