Yesterday was one of remembrance in the United States. At the Capitol, Democratic lawmakers talked about their experiences one year ago when Trump supporters stormed the building. Meanwhile, Conservative outlets like Fox tried to downplay the attacks and accused Liberals of trying to score political points.Donell Harvin understands why many are focused on the 1/6 attack. The former Homeland Security Cheif for Washington DC, though, thinks the focus should be on the next attack.
Appearing on MSNBC, Harvin told Nicolle Wallace, “and this is my concern, that we’re so busy looking in the rearview mirror of what happened last year that we’re not looking at the threat that’s in front of us and we’re going to bump right into it.”
The security expert continued, “And so, instead of waiting for the very last moment to affect an election, the analysis suggests that the battle’s going to be back at the states. Consider the fact that if the federal government wasn’t prepared for what happened on Jan. 6, what are the state and local authorities going to be prepared for?”
Former FBI agent Frank Figliuzzi also weighed in, saying, “We are looking at what I would call an entrenched insurgency at this point, a decentralized insurgency. [The next insurrection] will unlikely be at the Capitol.”
