[WATCH] Former GOP Congressman Says McCarthy Acting ‘Selfish’ Regarding Cheney
Former Florida Congressman David Jolly famously left the Republican Party and became an Independent at the outset of the Trump Administration. Jolly’s insights have always proven to be valuable to MSNBC viewers, giving them a real window into just how things operate behind closed Congressional doors.
Jolly appeared on “Deadline: White House” on Wednesday and gave host Nicolle Wallace his views on just why House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (Q-CA) chose to oust his colleague Liz Cheney from her Leadership position.
“Kevin McCarthy went to Mar-A-Lago to get assurance from Donald Trump that Donald Trump would help Kevin McCarthy become Speaker of the House” after the 2022 midterms, Jolly told Wallace. McCarthy’s blind ambition will always win over everything else, and his selfish display only shines a brighter light on his behavior.
Pro-truth and pro democracy anti-trump republicans need to get out of denial. The gop is fundamentally changed and gone as they knew it. Time for them to leave the party and quit looking back.

“Nicolle, Kevin McCarthy is the type of guy who hangs a portrait of himself in his own office,” Jolly said. Jolly went on to call McCarthy “dishonest, power-hungry, and scurrilous” in his pursuit to rise higher in the Republican ranks.
"Kevin McCarthy is the type of person that hangs a portrait of himself in his own office. He's a dishonest, power hungry, scurrilous pol who would give up part of his anatomy to be Speaker of the House… the most selfish form of leadership" – @DavidJollyFL w/ @NicolleDWallace pic.twitter.com/dxaE7dSB5I
