[WATCH] Expert Legal Panel Discusses Why Trump ‘Should Be Nervous’ About Pat Cipollone’s Jan 6th Testimony

After receiving a subpoena to appear, former Trump White House counsel Pat Cipollone sat for eight hours of testimony on Friday behind closed doors with the January 6th House Select Committee. According to Committee member Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Cipollone didn’t dispute any of the witness testimony he was specifically asked about, although he was not asked if he told then-White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson the day of the attack that they would “get charged with every crime imaginable” if they went to the US Capitol.

And while the panel still hasn’t announced how much of Cipollone’s testimony might be included in their next televised hearing on Tuesday–which is said to focus on the collaborative efforts of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers with Trump’s inner circle–one thing is certain: Donald Trump isn’t happy about any of it.

Cipollone told the Committee on Friday that he wasn’t giving legal advice to staff regarding movements on January 6. This came up during his testimony as part of a question not relating to the specific anecdote from Hutchinson.

Cipollone’s efforts to keep Trump in office while keeping everyone out of legal trouble were especially of interest to the panel, and his revelations could ultimately lead to criminal charges for Trump and others within his immediate circle.

MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart spoke to Jill Wine-Banks, who served as assistant Watergate prosecutor, and Harry Litman, former U.S. Attorney and former Deputy Assistant Attorney General, about why Trump should be more concerned now than ever before.
