WATCH: Ex-Reagan Official Mocks Dr. Oz’s ‘Dying Campaign’

Dr. Mehmet Oz recently decided to leave his cushy television gig and pursue a career in politics. While he managed to win his primary race, things aren’t going that well. Booed by Donald Trump’s supporters, the Republican is now attempting to separate himself from the former President. Oz has also been relentlessly trolled by his opponent John Fetterman.

NEWTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA – MAY 11: Pennsylvania U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz participates in a Republican leadership forum at Newtown Athletic Club on May 11, 2022 in Newtown, Pennsylvania. In the May 17 Republican primary to replace retiring Sen. Pat Toomey, front runner Oz, who has the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, is facing political commentator Kathy Barnette. A recent Trafalgar Group poll has Oz in front with 24.5 percent of the vote, Barnette in second with 23.2 percent, and former hedge fund CEO Dave McCormick in third with 21.6 percent. And Oz’s campaign is flailing. He went viral last night when he tried to explain why his opponent is raising so much more money than him. During a recent spot on CNN Peter Wehner mocked Oz’s sinking campaign.

The former Reagan staffer was asked by Kaitlin Collins why the Republican’s campaign was going so badly. “Yeah, that’s because he’s now in a general election rather than a primary,” said Wehner. “Because MAGA’s appeal is in the Republican Party, not necessarily in the country at large. And that fundraising letter he sent out about, you know, MAGA dying, maybe his campaign is dying, he’s been outraised 9 to 1, this is a panicked fundraising appeal, trying to get some — inject fuel into the base of the party to get more money.”

Wehner continued, “But unfortunately from my perspective as a conservative, MAGA is alive and well, at least in the Republican Party. Whether it is alive and well in the rest of the country, we’ll see.”
