WATCH: Elizabeth Warren Spars With CNBC Host Over Price Gouging Measures

Elizabeth Warren had a contentious debate with CNBC host Joe Kernan on Friday over Kamala Harris' plan to combat price gouging in America.

Thanks largely to a global pandemic, the United States has been dealing with heavy inflation over the last few years and it is an important topic during the current presidential race. Part of Kamala Harris' plan to combat inflation is to punish those companies who have continued to price gouge and make record profits.

Host Joe Kernan immediately began his segment with Elizabeth Warren by claiming that measures against price gouging won't work. Warren let him finished before asking, "So did you have a question here?”

Kernan responded, "Yes, why would you propose a flawed idea when the real problem — if you really want to help the middle class, if you really, sincerely want to help people having trouble at the grocery store, it’s not price gouging that’s the issue, and if you look at it seriously and you really want to help him, let’s do something about it together, fine."

"I understand if you want to do a lecture about this," she shot back,  "but let’s just start with where have you been for the last 30 years as three dozen states have price gouging laws and they have used them effectively?"
