WATCH: Dr. Fauci Fires Back, Tells Everyone Exactly Why Rand Paul Keeps Attacking Him

Dr. Anthony Fauci is again making it clear that he’s really sick of the political attacks aimed at him, not to mention the violent threats he says this rhetoric inspires and supports. In a Congressional hearing, after being hammered by Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) with false accusations and mischaracterizations, he asked for a few minutes to respond.

Rand Paul (R-KY) at a Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee hearing on Capitol Hill on January 11, 2022 in Washington, D.C. In clips below via Aaron Rupar of Public Notice, Paul can be seen continuing to speak over Fauci, arguing and interrupting. Finally, Fauci declares that Paul is determined not to let him speak, “because you know what I’m going to say.”

He directs anyone who is listening to Paul’s attacks and may be on the fence about his motives to go to the Senator’s website, and click on the link that invites constituents to help “fire Fauci.” When you do that, Fauci explains, you’ll see Paul’s real motive: it’s a donation page to fund Paul’s campaign.

Fauci also links rhetoric like Paul’s to the violent threats he’s suffered, specifically citing a recent incident in which a man was arrested at a traffic stop, in which the suspect reportedly disclosed that he was on his way to kill the epidemiologist.

Of course, as Fauci explains all this, Paul seems incapable of refraining from further interruptions, even with reminders from the Senate Chair, and he’s ultimately successful in silencing Fauci by running out the clock with these interruptions. The entire hearing can be viewed on CSPAN, here.
