WATCH: Donald Trump Jr. Under Criminal Investigation After Capitol Attack, Lawmaker Reports
Donald Trump Jr. spoke to the crowd of his father’s supporters in D.C. on Wednesday, January 6. He wasn’t the only speaker — President Trump, Representative Mo Brooks, and others also worked to rile up an angry crowd. The president is already facing impeachment for his part in the event. Now a lawmaker says that Don Jr. is also under criminal investigation.
Representative Hakeem Jeffries shared the news on Twitter Wednesday morning, a week after the attack on the Capitol. He said that Trump Jr. is under a criminal investigation and called to keep the pressure on everyone who partook in inciting violence.
Donald Trump Jr. is now under criminal investigation in the District of Columbia.
Keep the pressure on every single person who incited the violent attack on the Capitol.

In U.S. law, there’s not yet any clear precedent for dealing with a president who uses lies and propaganda to drive his fans to attack their own country. It hasn’t been tested, and it’s unclear where this will lead for Trump. Politico points out that the is precedent for charging a speaker if his language is found to have been “directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action,” but prosecutors will have to determine whether they can demonstrate it to legal standards.
