WATCH: Donald Trump Jr. Says of Kyle Rittenhouse: We All Do Stupid Things at 17
Kyle Rittenhouse killed two people and shot a third in Kenosha, Wisconsin on August 25th. Some Conservatives in the media were quick to paint him as a hero. Tucker Carlson said the teen took up arms because someone had to. Ann Coulter took it a step farther, saying that Rittenhouse should be the President of the United States.
Not surprisingly, Donald Trump Jr. also thinks the shooting of two people by a teenager was no big deal. During a recent appearance on Extra, the President’s son shrugged off the murder, saying that “we all do stupid things at 17.”
Host Rachel Lindsay asked, “why the Trump administration hasn’t done more to speak against Rittenhouse, who travelled across state lines with a rifle and placed himself in the middle of the Kenosha riots.”
Trump Jr. replied:
“We’re waiting for due process. We’re not jumping to a conclusion. If I put myself in Kyle Rittenhouse[‘s shoes], maybe I shouldn’t have been there. He’s a young kid. I don’t want 17 year olds kids running around the streets with AR-15s. Maybe I wouldn’t have put myself in that situation, who knows? We all do stupid things at 17.”
The host countered that this situation might be a little more serious than simple teenage hijinks. “Really stupid, fine,” said the President’s son. “But we all have to let due process play out and let due process take its course.”
