Donald Trump has complained that the January 6th Committee isn’t presenting ‘his side’ of the story with regard to attempts to overturn the 2020 Presidential election. Finally, in the Tuesday afternoon hearing, he had some success at being heard, when Representative Adam Schiff shared part of a statement Trump sent to the Committee. However, it did not go as the former president might have hoped.

The first slate of witnesses to speak to the January 6th Committee on Tuesday afternoon included Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers. Throughout his testimony, Bowers made it clear that he was a Trump supporter, campaigned with Trump, and hoped for Trump to win a second term. He said that he believes the United States Constitution is divinely inspired.
He also called out Donald Trump on blatant lies.
In the clip below, Schiff shares a portion of a statement from Donald Trump, which he says he’s just recieved. In it, Trump calls Speaker Bowers a “RINO,” a ‘Republican in name only,’ and asserts that Bowers said in a November 2020 conversation that the election was ‘rigged’ and that Trump had in fact won Arizona.

“I did have a conversation with the president. That certainly isn’t it…Anywhere, anyone, any time, has said that I said the election was rigged, that would not be true.”
As his testimony continued (the full video can be viewed here) Bowers further testified that attorneys on behalf of Trump repeatedly told him they had evidence of thousands of names cast in the names of deceased voters, but never handed over any such evidence when he requested it.
