[WATCH] Don Winslow & Jeff Daniels Collab On New Pro-Vaccine Spot Invoking 9/11 Patriotism

With the encouraging news that almost 70% of American adults are now fully vaccinated, a milestone President Joe Biden had hoped to reach by July 4th, filmmaker Don Winslow, working with Eleven Films, has once again recruited frequent collaborator, actor Jeff Daniels, to narrate a new video about the COVID19 vaccines that invokes the same feelings of patriotism the country experienced twenty years ago after we were shattered by a terrorist attack that took the lives of nearly 3000 Americans.

With the sad 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks a little over a month away, Winslow shares the sounds of people calling their loved ones to say goodbye and their final “I love you’s” as they faced their imminent and unspeakable deaths at the hands of the terrorists. In the aftermath of the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks, the country united in a way it hadn’t before. Gradually, that feeling of unity dissipated as the country returned to a new normalcy under George W. Bush, with people once again showing each other their true colors, taking each other for granted, forgetting the unifying feelings we had after we were attacked.

9/11 never forget, but Trump's covid response killed

The images in “Unity Against Covid” invoke those feelings and ask us to not get complacent this time around. If the country came together over one event to honor those 3000 lives, the video implores, why can’t it unite us every day to honor the 600,000 lost to the coronavirus, which has been a daily struggle for a solid eighteen months?

#UniteAgainstCovid began trending shortly after the video dropped.
