WATCH: Desperate Donald Tries to Delay Sentencing Yet Again

A New York jury unanimously convicted Donald Trump in May on 34 felony counts, including fraud and falsifying business records. His original July sentencing was pushed to September 18th after his lawyers argued the SCOTUS immunity ruling would apply to some of the testimony given.

While that delay was granted, three separate attempts by Trump's lawyers to get Judge Juan Merchan to recuse himself have been unsuccessful.

The Supreme Court also ruled three weeks ago that it wouldn't delay the sentencing.

Now Trump's team is making yet another last-ditch effort to get the convictions either overturned or have sentencing delayed until after the November election.

Trump’s lawyers pleaded with a federal judge late on Thursday night and argued that the case and evidence against him should be tossed out completely under the Supreme Court’s “immunity” ruling. No decision had been made at press time.

Legal analyst Norm Eisen has a great thread explaining why Trump's legal efforts are a big waste of time.

There is also the new superseding indictment filed by DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith, restarting the January 6th prosecution which had been interrupted after the SCOTUS immunity decision.

If Judge Merchan refuses to delay sentencing, Trump's punishment is still in question. Trump has repeatedly violated the judge's gag order, with his cronies attacking the judge's daughter in their attempts to smear him.

Legal experts believe Trump won't receive jail time even with a conviction. A more likely sentence would involve probation either with or without home confinement and electronic monitoring. If Trump does receive a period of imprisonment, a lengthy sentence is unlikely.
