WATCH: CNN’s Camerota Begs Republicans to Keep Marjorie Taylor Greene Away From Children

Over the last week, a number of videos of GOP congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene have emerged. In the most troubling of these videos, a middle-aged Taylor Greene harassed teenage activist David Hogg. Rather than punish the congresswoman, the House placed her on the House Education and Labor Committee.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy had previously said that he would “have a talk” with the Georgia Rep. During Thursday’s broadcast of New Day, Alisyn Camerota begged the Republican caucus to actually do something about the troubled GOP lawmaker.

“This is a poisonous person,” the CNN host said. “Please, leader McCarthy, keep her away from children. please keep her away from children. And yet she’s been rewarded with a committee post to the House Education and Labor Committee? How? How can this be happening?”

Guest David Chalian also weighed in, saying, “There’s a moral bankruptcy going on right now inside the Republican Party that is — for anyone who has watched, observed, reported on the Republican Party for the last few days — it’s becoming unrecognizable. There’s always been a fringe and now it’s just become the actual mainstream of the party.”

Greene, of course, is completely unbothered by the controversy. She said in a statement yesterday, “I was going from office to office in the Senate to oppose the radical gun control agenda that David Hogg was pushing…I will always work to protect our gun rights so that Americans can defend themselves and others against bad people intent to harm or kill them.”
