WATCH: CNN’s Bash Asks Incoming GOP Congresswomen if They Think Their Elections Were Rigged
Donald Trump lost the 2020 election and now that most of the votes are counted, if wasn’t all that close. Despite Trump’s failure, the GOP has a very successful election season in the House and Senate. This reality has made it difficult for incoming Republican Reps to claim that their races were fair while Trump was cheated.
That, however, hasn’t stopped them from trying to do so. On Sunday, Dana Bash hosted incoming New York Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis. The CNN host asked if Trump was cheated, do they think that there races were fair.
Bash had both Malliotakis and new South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace on her show. She asked, “I’ll go to you, Congresswoman-elect Nicole Malliotakis: Does it concern you that the president is undermining the results of an election that both of you won?”
The New York congresswoman responded, “I don’t believe that the president is undermining anything. I believe he is within his legal rights to be questioning any irregularities that may have surfaced. Look, this is a legal process. This is the Constitution. This should be all settled in December and the president said, should Joe Biden be elected by the electors, that he can conform with a peaceful transition.”
Bash followed, “I’m guessing it’s probably fair to say that neither of you think that the election that each of you won was rigged. I will have to leave it there.”
