WATCH: CNN's Dana Bash Lands First Harris/Walz Interview

There is an odd fixation surrounding political candidates giving access to the media, with Donald Trump's MAGA minions equating interview time with bravery.

It's not required for any candidate to sit down with the media, particularly at a time when the MSM has been fully lax in holding Donald Trump accountable while putting Vice President Kamala Harris under a microscope.

Trump and his MAGA followers have bullied Democrats over press conferences and media interviews because they can't fight them over policy. Shaming the Vice President into sitting down for an interview seems like an odd political tactic, but this is what passes for our norms these days.

The MSM complaints carried over to the Democratic National Convention, where over 200 content creators had been invited and were given special access that traditional media was denied, despite having a major presence both above and on the convention floor.

With both the MSM and MAGA focusing on the wrong things and therefore putting them front and center over any real issues, it was only a matter of time before the Harris/Walz campaign heard about it.

The Vice President has shrewdly responded by granting her first sit-down interview with CNN's Dana Bash. Gov. Tim Walz will be joining her, a "two birds, one stone" approach that Trump has used with JD "Nobody Likes Me" Vance and Mike "How's It Hangin?" Pence before him. So of course the Trump campaign is saying the former prosecutor, Attorney General, Senator, and current Vice President of the United States "can't do by herself."

Bash "co-moderated" the lone debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump where there was no fact-checking, so hopefully Vice President Harris will make sure the CNN anchor is aware that there won't be any similar foolishness from now on.

The Harris/Walz interview will air Thursday at 9 pm EST.
