WATCH: Classless Madison Cawthorn Calls For “One-Finger Salute” For Biden On House Floor

Over the first presidential campaign and single term of the former occupant of the White House, America watched as civility and social norms were almost completely eradicated from the Republican party’s behavior in the political arena. There was infighting and name-calling, and the former president even insulted the wives of politicians — and that’s without getting into what they’ve said about anyone across the aisle.

Still, if you ask whether they can show any greater lack of class, some Republicans will always take it as a challenge — like when Jim Justice, the governor of West Virginia, displayed his dog’s anus to news cameras and invited Bette Midler to kiss it, after she criticized Joe Manchin (D-WV) for standing with Republicans against progressive legislation.
Now, it’s Madison Cawthorn (R-NC), who is new to Congress and working hard to make himself a name by acting out at every opportunity — such as, in this case, speaking on the House floor and calling for the “sons and daughters of America” to make a certain rude single-finger gesture at President Joe Biden.

“The sons and daughters of America are not footsoldiers for your party’s inept geriatric despot. They are not expendable pawns to be dispatched at the whims of an idiot, tossed around the world to godforsaken caves and bloody sandboxes. They are Americans, worthy of honor and dignity. The only salute from them Joe Biden deserves involves one finger.”
Notably, this doesn’t seem to have been an unplanned outburst borne out of frustration, as Cawthorn appears to stumble over written words of his little speech.
