WATCH: Chuck Schumer Defends Peaceful Protest, Says They’re Held At His Home Frequently

The new outrage on the right is that protestors dare to march outside the homes of Supreme Court Justices who, according to a leaked document, are poised to strip one of the rights Americans have held dear for decades. There’s a lot of debate about whether the protests are legal, and if not, whether laws forbidding them are constitutional. Meanwhile, conservative media hosts and politicians are painting people who hold some of the most powerful seats in the United States as the victims.

Ted Cruz, for instance, described it as an instance of the president inciting mob violence to obtain a partisan outcome, as PoliticoUSA reports, ironically appearing to forget that when that actually happened was January 6th 2021. Meanwhile, the Washington Post has an explainer about how an unsupported rumor about one Justice’s family being moved to an undisclosed location due to threats to their safety, was spread among right-wing media hosts, started by Ben Shapiro, who claimed it on a radio program but said he couldn’t remember where he’d heard it. No source has ever been produced for the rumor, besides Shapiro’s claim that he heard or read it “somewhere.”
What does Chuck Schumer have to say about the protests? As long as they’re peaceful, he has no problem with them — he says they take place outside his own home several days a week.
Q: "Are you comfortable with the protests that we saw outside the homes of Supreme Court justices over the weekend?"@SenSchumer: "If protests are peaceful; yes. My house, there's protests 3-4 times a week outside my house." pic.twitter.com/Mlu5dbHDbr

While not all of these protests are documented, there are certainly plenty of reports of protesters at Schumer’s home, seeking redress on issues from immigration to abortion to Trump.
It is not clear whether Cruz, Shapiro, and others extend their outrage to protests outside the homes of liberal politicians.
