Republicans constantly talk about their love for law enforcement in the country. It is a core part of their campaigning strategy. And it seems to work for them. In a poll conducted prior the 2016 election, 84% of officers said they supported Donald Trump with only 8% saying they backed Hillary Clinton.

But Trump supporters didn’t seem to have much respect for law enforcement on January 6th. The insurrectionists had no problem attacking the cops who were trying to prevent them from entering the building. On Monday night, Chris Cuomo cornered GOP Rep. Chris Stewart (UT) by asking why he wouldn’t investigate that attack.
The CNN host called out the Republican for his supposed love of the police. He asked, “100 of them hurt — you don’t even want to investigate it.” Stewart replied, “Chris, that’s just nuts for you to say something like ‘people you supposedly love.”
Cuomo followed, “Don’t you support the police?” Stewart countered, “Of course I do.” Cuomo continued his line of questioning, “Then why don’t you want to investigate why 100 of them got beat up?” After Stewart failed to answer, the host said, “Because you won’t investigate the event. How are they supposed to think you support them?”
