During a recent spot on TMZ, Caitlyn Jenner says she supports Republican efforts to ban transgender children from playing organized sports.
Jenner is, of course, an odd Republican candidate. Over the last decade, the GOP has consistently tried to make harder for transgender people. One of Donald Trump’s first actions as President was banning transgender people from serving in the military.
And while Jenner is transgender herself, she still seems willing to parrot Republican talking points. A TMZ reporter recently asked the candidate what she thought of anti-trans bills popping up in a number of red states.
“This is a question of fairness,” she said. I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls sports in school. It just isn’t fair. And we have to protect girls sports in our schools.”
The reporter attempted to follow up by asking if it was delegitimizing the children’s identity to ban them. Jenner, though, refused to answer the question and simply told the reporter to “have a good day.”
