There is no doubt that a majority of people involved in Hollywood film making lean to the left. This fact often upsets Conservatives who refer to people in the entertainment industry as elites and threaten to boycott actors who speak out politically.
The Oscars, which were held on Sunday night, often feature actors and actresses using their platform to speak out about political issues. Last night was no exception as first time Best Supporting Actor winner Brad Pitt lamented the results of the recent Trump impeachment trial.
The actor, who won his award for the film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, quipped, “They told me I only have 45 seconds up here, which is 45 seconds more than the Senate gave John Bolton this week.”
This isn’t the first time that Pitt has spoken out about Trump and the current administration. When asked about potential Trump wine tariffs by a French magazine in 2019, he answered, “I think we will always drink rosé in the United States. Unfortunately, it’s almost anecdotal. Trump represents a much bigger threat on such more serious issues.”
The actor also weighed in on Brexit in a 2016 interview, saying, “Man, I never thought that [Brexit] would happen. Same way I can’t bring myself to think that Trump will be in charge. In the simplest terms, what brings us together is good, and what separates us is bad.”
