[WATCH] Boehner Blazes Cruz on ‘The View’: ‘Lucifer In the Flesh’
Former Speaker of the House John Boehner is getting ready to release his memoir, some tapes of which have leaked where Boehner tears into Texas Senator Ted Cruz, much to the delight of the internet. Boehner can be heard slightly slurring his wine-soaked words and going off-script to tell Cruz to “go f— himself”.
But Boehner kept it TV-PG on Monday when he continued his attacks on Cruz during an appearance on “The View” to promote “On the House,” despite the former Speaker comparing “Cancun Cruz” to the Devil himself.
Host Sara Haines asked Boehner about Cruz, noting that in the book he called the Texas Senator a “reckless *bleep* who thinks he is smarter than everyone else.” Boehner replied. “You know, I don’t really beat up too many people in this book, except one,” Boehner said. “Ted Cruz, Lucifer in the flesh.”
Guess Boehner should have called Cruz’s wife “ugly” and claimed Cruz’s father was on the grassy knoll. Then Cruz would endlessly kiss Boehner’s butt. pic.twitter.com/sJVmN36hyZ

Co-host Meghan McCain tried to get her fellow Republican to criticize President Joe Biden, but the former House speaker wasn’t having any of it. Despite accusing Barack Obama of metaphorically sucker-punching him in the book, Boehner didn’t have anything bad to say about Biden.
“I’m worried that we’re headed toward the most divided time in our nation,” McCain said. “President Biden has promised to usher in a new era of bipartisanship. So far, he’s issued more than 50 executive orders and chosen to go it alone on issues like the stimulus. You said that President Obama never made reaching across the aisle a priority. Is Biden continuing the tradition?”
Boehner’s book is being promoted on “Morning Joe.” Here’s my countervailing view. https://t.co/Vsi097Pjob

“Well, listen, Joe Biden’s a good guy,” Boehner said, adding that he thought the president was a “traditional Democrat” just trying to “hold his party together”.
Boehner explained why he had good feelings about Biden.
“I worked with him for 30 years. I know this guy inside and out. There isn’t a thing in the world that Joe Biden and I couldn’t work out together,” he said. “It wouldn’t be everything I wanted. It certainly wouldn’t be everything he wanted. But we could have found enough common ground to do some good things on behalf of the American people.”
