Beto O’Rourke inspired young people to get out and vote. He made his battle against incumbent Republican Senator Ted Cruz one worth watching, and while most of the pre-election polls predicted that O’Rourke would lose, he made the Texas Senate race one to watch all night long.
In the end, O’Rourke fell short of Cruz by just 2.6 points. O’Rourke didn’t take a single second in his concession speech to lament on his loss or insult his opponent. Instead, he did what Beto O’Rourke does best; he inspired.
At one point, during his 11-plus minute speech (seen below) in El Paso, Texas, O’Rourke threw political correctness out of the window and told his supporters, “I am so fucking proud of you guys.”
The remark, which can be seen at approximately the 7:08 minute mark in the video above, drew a huge ovation from the crown on hand.
Also during the speech, O’Rourke promised to do everything he can in order to help make Texas the best it can be, including working with Cruz if need be.
“I have now had the opportunity to talk with Sen. Cruz and congratulate him on his victory and wish him well going forward,” O’Rourke said.
This certainly isn’t the last we will hear of Beto O’Rourke.
