WATCH: Anderson Cooper to Trump: Look in a Mirror, You’re Old and Obese
A few weeks back, Bob Woodward released tapes where Donald Trump talked about the danger of COVID-19. “Now it’s turning out it’s not just old people,” Trump told the reporter. But if you are sitting in the crowd at one of Donald Trump’s rallies, you are hearing a much different story.
During a Monday night rally in Ohio, Trump told the crowd that the virus only affects a small segment of people. On last night’s broadcast, Anderson Cooper took Trump to task for his comments, noting that he is the exact kind of person that has issues with COVID.
Trump said to rally-goers Monday night, “It affects elderly people, elderly people with heart problems and other problems. If they have other problems, that’s what it really affects, that’s it.”
Cooper responded to those claims, “It affects elderly people. That’s it, he says. Among anyone else, it affects virtually nobody in his words. Virtually nobody. Actually, Mr. President, it has affected and sickened and killed people in every age group, from toddlers to the oldest Americans. We’ve seen college football players develop heart issues, children get strokes, we’ve seen people of all ages get sick.”
The anchor continued:
“But even if you believe that it only affects elderly people, as the president said, meaning it kills them, are elderly people now disposable in this society? Is that the country we now want to live in? If so, the president might want to look in the mirror or get on a scale, because he is elderly, and obesity is an underlying condition.”
