WATCH: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Calls To Expel Members Of Congress Who Asked Trump For Pardons

According to testimony received by the January 6th Committee, several Republican Members of Congress (as well as Rudy Giuliani) asked Donald Trump for pardons after the events of January 6th. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says that she feels this shows their willingness to engage in criminal activity, as long as they could get away with it.

Ocasio-Cortez says that these members should be expelled from Congress, because to seek a pardon is an admission of guilt, and that anyone willing to illegally seize power and undermine power should not be holding a powerful seat in government.

“Those who specifically sought pardons for themselves should be expelled from the United States House of Representatives…if you are a duly-elected official, and in seeking a pardon, as you mentioned, you are admitting to committing crimes. They were willing to commit crimes in order to illegally seize power.”

Cassidy Hutchinson, the former aide to Donald Trump’s White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, testified that a long list of Congress Members and people close to Trump, including Matt gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Louie Gohmert, among others, contacted the former president regarding pardons following the failed coup attempt.

Trump has insisted much of Hutchinson’s testimony is false, raging on his social media and claiming that he doesn’t actually know the witness, but that she was angry with him because he did not take her to Florida with him when he left the White House.
