After tepid welcomes at sporting events in New York City and Washington DC, Donald Trump ventured down to Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he was sure to get a round of applause. The University of Alabama made sure of a positive reaction by threatening the football tickets of any student who demonstrated against the President.
Since students couldn’t protest, Robert Kennedy decided to bring his Trump baby balloon to town. The balloon was subsequently stabbed at by Hoyt Deu Hutchinson of Tuscaloosa, Alabama who was arrested on charges of Criminal Mischief in the First Degree.
Hutchinson had first warned that he would do something about the balloon on his Facebook page earlier this week. The 32 year-old posted a video where he said he was going to, “get rowdy, make a scene and pop that balloon.” He added, “You got any balls you’re welcome to join me. I’m shaking, I’m so mad right now.”
The Tuscaloosa police reported, “Officers observed Hoyt Deau Hutchinson, age 32 of Tuscaloosa, AL, cut into the ‘Baby Trump’ balloon, and then attempt to flee the area. Officers apprehended the suspect and took him into custody on a charge of Criminal Mischief First Degree. Hoyt was transported to Tuscaloosa County Jail where he was held on a $2,500 bond.”
Kennedy, who takes the balloon to various locations around the country was surprised by Hutchinson’s actions. He told the Associated Press, “It’s rare to get that kind of anger.”
The stabber has created a Go Fund Me to raise legal fees. He wrote on the page, “Hoyt made sure our beloved president didn’t have to see this disrespectful balloon on the streets of T-town today!!”
