Donald Trump was unlike any other President in a number of ways. One of these ways was his resistance to fitness. Bill Clinton enjoyed jogging. George W. Bush was also a big runner. Barack Obama enjoyed playing pickup basketball and was very focused on his diet.
Donald Trump was none of those things. The 45th President plays golf, but always takes a cart. He is addicted to McDonalds fare, eating fish filet sandwiches and washing them down with Diet Cokes. Trump doubled down on his anti-fitness regiment in Nashville last night when he promised to never, ever, ride a bicycle.
Trump told event attendees, “I make this pledge to you today, I will never, ever ride a bicycle.” This is no surprise considering Trump’s resistance to anything athletic.
Of course, Trump has been enabled in his anti-fitness journey by those around him. Dr. Ronny Jackson parlayed his gig as White House physician into a seat in the House of Representatives. Jackson gloated in 2018:
“He has incredibly good genes, and it’s just the way God made him. I told the President that if he had a healthier diet over the last 20 years he might live to be 200 years old.”
