Warren Slams Congress For Failure to Impeach
With a still crowded Democratic field, candidates are still attempting to separate themselves from the pack. Beto O’Rourke has made gun control his pet cause. Former candidate Jay Inslee was very concerned with the environment. As the field thins, each front runner is looking to create their own call to action. \
Thus far, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren has been quite clear about her opinion on a number of different policies. On Saturday, Warren told a crowd in Iowa that congress has failed in their duty to impeach current President, Donald Trump.
The Iowa primary will be the first of the Democratic primary season. The candidates have largely descended upon the state to make their play.
Warren spoke to a crowd in the state about the Mueller investigation:
“The government tried to investigate those activities. Donald Trump did everything he could to obstruct justice. I read all 448 pages and when I got to the end, I called for the impeachment of Donald Trump. Congress failed to act and now Donald Trump has shown that he believes he is above the law. He has solicited another foreign government to attack our election system.”
The Democratic candidate concluded her message with a call to action. She told the attendees, “It is time for us to call out this illegal behavior and start impeachment proceedings right now.”
The Massachusetts senator has been rising in recent Democratic polling. A recent CNN poll showed Warren ahead of presumed front-runner and former Vice President, Joe Biden.
