Before Trump even touched down in France this weekend, he had already begun attacking our ally, France, on Twitter.
“President Macron of France has just suggested that Europe build its own military in order to protect itself from the U.S., China and Russia. Very insulting, but perhaps Europe should first pay its fair share of NATO, which the U.S. subsidizes greatly!” the president tweeted on Friday afternoon.
Following his arrival, Trump decided not to attend a World War I ceremony marking the 100 year anniversary since the end of the war because of ‘weather conditions”. This sparked an uproar among the French, as well as many Americans who saw the President as ‘weak’ and out of touch.
After dropping the ball from the start, it’s no wonder why protestors took on Mr. Trump this morning while his motorcade headed to another ceremony honoring the fallen soldiers from the war.
As the motorcade drove along Champs Elysees roadway from the U.S. ambassador’s residence toward the Arc de Triomphe, two topless female activists jumped a barricade and ran toward the vehicles before authorities were able to tackle and bring them down.
The women, part of a feminist group called ‘Femen,’ were protesting the ‘hypocrisy’ of the event and had the words ‘fake’ and ‘peace’ painted on their naked torsos. A video of the event has been posted on Twitter. (caution: there is some nudity)
