Twitter Shreds Kevin McCarthy Over Pathetic Rebuke of Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Holocaust Remarks

The office of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) released a statement on Tuesday morning condemning Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) for having compared mask mandates to the systematic discrimination and murder of Jews during the Holocaust.

But McCarthy’s rebuke of Greene was only slightly less toxic than Greene’s original comments because like Greene, he accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and the “Democrat Party” of being the real perpetrators of anti-Semitism.

“Marjorie is wrong, and her intentional decision to compare the horrors of the Holocaust with wearing masks is appalling,” McCarthy tweeted. “The Holocaust is the greatest atrocity committed in history. The fact that this needs to be stated today is deeply troubling. At a time when the Jewish people face increased violence and threats, anti-Semitism is on the rise in the Democrat Party and is completely ignored by Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Americans must stand together to defeat anti-Semitism and any attempt to diminish the history of the Holocaust. Let me be clear: the House Republican Conference condemns this language.”

That did not go over well on Twitter. Scores of users blasted McCarthy for doing exactly what Greene did and demanded that he expel her from Congress.

“Too late. She’s the face of your party now. Congrats,” wrote political commentator Brian Taylor Cohen.

“Then expel Marge Greene. A statement ain’t enough Kev,” said Scott Dworkin.

“Call for Marge Greene’s expulsion or these words are empty and frivolous,” Dworkin added.

Fred Guttenberg, the father of a Parkland victim, said that “I remember antisemitic comments of yours in the past. Perhaps you don’t understand, but this statement is not enough. You enabled this, now you need to end this. By the way, her name and title is Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, member of the GOP.”

They were far from alone, but nobody appears to be surprised that McCarthy is taking the easy way out.

McCarthy’s words, however, did not deter Greene from repeating her insane comparison.
