Smoking kills up to 8 million people each year. Nicotine, an additive placed in cigarettes, doesn’t kill people directly but makes cigarettes dangerously addictive.

The Biden administration recently revealed that they will look to reduce the amount of nicotine in cigarettes. Somehow, Tucker Carlson has a problem with this. According to the Fox host, this is a move to pacify working-class men.
Carlson told viewers, “Nicotine is not the thing that gives you cancer. It’s addictive but it also increases mental acuity, but they’re taking that out. “Now, what happens when you get off nicotine? Well, your testosterone levels plummet and you gain weight, both of which the administration is for because you become more passive and easier to control.”
The Fox host later continued, “Nicotine is one of the few remaining pleasures for ordinary people, particularly working class men, and now they’re taking it away. Yeah, how about no? You can’t take my guns and you can’t take my nicotine. That’s a hard no on that. Sorry!”
According to a 2017 article from The New Yorker, Carlson is a former smoker who still frequently chews nicotine gum.
