Less than 24 hours after he was injured in a shooting at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Donald Trump announced he would still be attending the Republican National Convention (RNC) later this week.
"I was going to delay my trip to Wisconsin, and The Republican National Convention, by two days, but have just decided that I cannot allow a 'shooter,' or potential assassin, to force change to scheduling, or anything else. Therefore, I will be leaving for Milwaukee, as scheduled," Trump posted on his flailing Truth Social app on Sunday.
Saturday's violence left both the shooter, Thomas Crooks, and a rally attendee dead. President Joe Biden is closely monitoring the investigation into what motivation Crooks, a registered Republican, might have had to take such violent action against his own party's leader while using his party's preferred weapon.
President Biden held a briefing regarding the shooting on Sunday afternoon, and will again update the nation from the Oval Office on Sunday night at 8 pm.
The Secret Service and FBI are currently investigating Crooks and how he was able to get on a rooftop barely 150 yards from the rally stage with an AR-15 strapped to his back.
The online rhetoric from the right post-rally is a strong indicator that the speeches at the RNC will have real "steroids washed down with Red Bull" energy, as the red meat MAGA loyalists are looking for any reason to attack Democrats in the wake of the shooting.
Trump also sparked outrage among locals last month when he referred to this year's host city of Milwaukee, WI, as "a horrible city," which he later denied saying.
