Donald Trump has to keep acting like he’s going to be able to run for President again in 2024 despite the potential for being held legally responsible for his various alleged criminal activities in trials in three separate cities (New York, Atlanta, and Washington DC). It’s a little tough to run for office while you’re avoiding prosecution, and if by some miracle Trump actually is forced to appear in person in the cases against the Trump Organization, or before the Grand Jury currently working very hard in Fulton County, that might put a damper on having any more of those rallies he loves.
But it sure makes for some scary TV prognostications in the name of selling a book, so of course, it’s better for an author to go on a news show to talk about the impending apocalypse that would be a Trump 2024 campaign than say something like, “Pretty sure Fani Willis will be keeping him too busy for that.”
Trump is essentially a walking human smokescreen right now, pretending he’s not worried about the January 6th subpoenas or any of the other legal keeping him awake at night, because that’s what he did for the entire four years he was squatting in the Oval Office. The GOP most likely will choose a slightly less terrible candidate for 2024 once they see what happens in the 2022 midterms, but the media can’t just talk about how boring a competent President like Joe Biden is for more than two minutes. That Trump Bump in ratings isn’t all that different from the kind of bump Don “Coke Drip” Jr occasionally enjoys, if you catch my drift.
ABC's @JonKarl: "Our first obligation to our viewers, our readers, to the people that consume our work is to pursue the truth. And the fundamental truth here, the core truth, is that Donald Trump betrayed the very democracy that enabled him to become elected president…" pic.twitter.com/HJX8xB6cFt

While he’s been (tiny) hand-picking candidates to get rid of those “disloyal” Republicans running next year, Trump is also making sure his lackeys are keeping the pesky truth of what they’re doing on the downlow. Harassing the media is one of the Former Guy’s favorite sports, and his team of supporters all love to play the same games as well, said the writer who’s been harassed by Matt Gaetz supporters since this truth came out.
While making the rounds to promote his new book, “Betrayal,” ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl touched on Trump’s obsession with the media and his ability to use fear tactics to keep them from getting their story.
“How do you cover a candidate who is effectively anti-democratic?” Karl mused during a Q&A with Deadline. “How do you cover a candidate who is running both against whoever the Democratic candidate is but also running against the very democratic system that makes all of this possible?” Karl pointed out that Trump’s never followed the political norms, and no one should expect him to change. “Now he has been demonstrated to be a candidate that is trying to destroy the very system that makes this election possible. And yet we cover campaigns. That’s what we do,” Karl explained before warning, “It is a very difficult, precarious situation, and I don’t know how it is going to play out, to be honest.”
