Trump Wants Sotomayor and Ginsburg to Recuse Themselves on All His Cases

Since he has taken office, Donald Trump has reshaped the Supreme Court for many years to come. Following his 2016 election, the President was able to nominate two Conservative justices in Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. Both men are in their 50’s and set to serve lifetime terms.

The makeup of the court, though, still does not lean either Conservative or Liberal. And President Donald Trump has an issue with that. During his visit to India, Trump demanded that left-leaning justices Sonia Sotomayor and Neil Gorsuch recuse themselves from all his future cases.

Sotomayor recently penned a dissent that was critical of the courts willingness to overturn emergency stays against the Trump administration. She wrote, “It is hard to say what is more troubling: that the Government would seek this extraordinary relief seemingly as a matter of course, or that the Court would grant it.”

This infuriated Trump who tweeted, “‘Sotomayor accuses GOP appointed Justices of being biased in favor of Trump,’ Laura Ingraham. This is a terrible thing to say. Trying to “shame” some into voting her way? She never criticized Justice Ginsberg when she called me a “faker”. Both should recuse themselves on all Trump, or Trump related, matters! While ‘elections have consequences’, I only ask for fairness, especially when it comes to decisions made by the United States Supreme Court!”
