Trump Told Chris Christie Not to Tell Anyone He Got COVID From Him

Being that they are from the same area, Chris Christie and Donald Trump have been friends for a long time. The two men sniped quite a bit when they were seeking the Republican nomination, but made up after Trump became president.

Something changed, though, when Christie contacted COVID while working on the Trump campaign. The men are now adversaries, sniping at each other for months. And according to a report from the New York Times, Trump wanted to make sure Christie didn’t tell anyone he caught COVID because of him.

Maggie Haberman reports, “Mr. Christie reveals how worried he and others were for his survival when he became infected with the coronavirus after being at the White House around the same time that Mr. Trump and several other aides contracted Covid-19. Mr. Christie writes that his priest arrived in the hospital and rubbed oils on his forehead in the sign of the cross, praying over him.”

Then the former New Jersey governor got a phone call from Trump. The article continues, “He got a call from a hospitalized Mr. Trump, who had one main concern: ‘Are you gonna say you got it from me?’ Mr. Trump asked him.”

The callousness of Trump’s behavior, of course, should surprise no one. The fact the Christie is spilling this story now, though, is certainly interesting.
