President Donald Trump is continuing to push his anti-immigration stance and now he’s equating the entire movement to yelling at someone to get off your front lawn.
The President started tweeting at 7:08m and in three tweets he laid out his thought process on the illegal immigration platform that his administration continues to champion.
Trump has been playing a strange game of cat and mouse with his own party over immigration reform. In June, the GOP-led House failed to pass two different proposals that would replace the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
At one point, Trump asked Republicans to pass at least one of the bills. He later claimed to have “never pushed Republicans in the House to vote for the Immigration Bill.”
Later, Trump told Republicans to drop the immigration issue until after the 2018 mid-terms. Trump, on the other hand, continues to push hard for his agenda as he plays to his base on Twitter.
The “get off my lawn” analogy is strange because trespassing on someone’s lawn is much different than crossing a border and possibly seeking asylum, which is legal under current laws in the United States. If someone refuses to leave your property, a simple phone call to the local police can have them detained.
Perhaps Trump’s age is just showing, this does sound like something an angry old man would shout at kids trying to fetch the ball they just lost during a game of baseball.
