Trump Tells Sarah Sanders ‘You’re fired’ At Wisconsin Rally
President Donald Trump told White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders that she was fired for becoming “too popular” at a campaign event in Wisconsin on Saturday night — a joke from the president that referenced his former catchphrase from his television show “The Apprentice.”
The statement appeared to be a joke, and the crowd laughed at his statement.
Sanders was coaxed onstage by Trump at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, along with chants of “Sarah! Sarah!” by the audience. When she arrived on the platform, the president kissed her on the cheek and lowered the microphone at the podium for her to speak.
“Obviously, I thought it was going to be a little warmer here in Wisconsin, but it’s pretty hot in his room tonight thanks to all of the amazing things you’ve done for our country,” Sanders said to Trump, per reporting from Mediaite.

She took a dig at the White House correspondents dinner as well, an event that was going on simultaneous to the president’s speech, and which previously roasted her during its event the year before.
“Last year, this night, I was at a slightly different event, not quite the best welcome, so this is an amazing honor,” Sanders added.
The crowd applauded the White House Press Secretary as she thanked Trump and left the stage to cheers. Trump took the opportunity to crack a joke.
“Oh, she doesn’t get it. She doesn’t get it,” he said. “She doesn’t understand me after all these years. She’s becoming too popular, I’m jealous. Sarah, you’re fired!”
Trump implied he was joking with a wave of his hand, and by stating that “she was wondering what was that all about,” adding that “she’s been great” alongside the rest of the White House communications team.
