An important element of Donald Trump’s 2016 election win was the overwhelming support of Evangelical Christians. One of the most vocal of these Evangelicals is Jerry Falwell Jr., president of conservative Christian college, Liberty University. Fallwell Jr. offered Trump his tremendously important endorsement in January of 2016.

The Liberty University president took to Twitter Sunday afternoon to celebrate what he called the president’s “best week ever.” Trump was quick to retweet Falwell Jr. and discuss how the last two years were stolen from him.
Falwell Jr.’s entire message read, “After the best week ever for Donald Trump- no obstruction, no collusion, NYT admits Barack Obama did spy on his campaign, & the economy is soaring. I now support reparations-Trump should have 2 yrs added to his 1st term as pay back for time stolen by this corrupt failed coup.”

The president was quick to seize on the message, retweeting Falwell Jr., and writing, “Despite the tremendous success that I have had as President, including perhaps the greatest ECONOMY and most successful first two years of any President in history, they have stollen (sic) two years of my (our) Presidency (Collusion Delusion) that we will never be able to get back.”
Fallwell Jr. and his followers continue to be incredibly strong allies for the president. Claims that the president committed adultery, among other misdeeds has done little to waver his Evangelical support. According to a poll taken by the Pew Research Center, Trump’s approval rating among white Evangelical Christians stands at 69%. This is by far the president’s largest number among any faith group.
