Trump Sets up Republicans to Blame Mueller for Possible Midterm Defeat

November 6, 2018 is the day when Americans across the country go to the polls in order to vote in the midterm elections.  All 435 seats within the U.S. House of Representatives as well as 35 of the 100 U.S. Senate seats are up for grabs, and Democrats hope to take back some of the Republican majority.

With the Robert Mueller probe is still appearing to be in it’s infancy when compared to previous investigations of sitting presidents and politicians, Trump is trying his hardest to put an end to the investigation into himself and his campaign.

This morning, in another apparent attempt to sabotage the Mueller probe, Trump tweeted:

Disgraced and discredited Bob Mueller and his whole group of Angry Democrat Thugs spent over 30 hours with the White House Councel, only with my approval, for purposes of transparency. Anybody needing that much time when they know there is no Russian Collusion is just someone looking for trouble. They are enjoying ruining people’s lives and REFUSE to look at the real corruption on the Democrat side – the lies, the firings, the deleted Emails and soooo much more! Mueller’s Angry Dems are looking to impact the election. They are a National Disgrace!

Besides referring to Robert Mueller’s team of investigators as disgraced, discredited thugs, he also seems to be trying to give Republicans an excuse if they come up short in the 2018 midterm elections, in saying, “Mueller’s Angry Dems are looking to impact the election.”

The Mueller probe most certainly won’t be complete before the midterms, if previous administration investigations provide any clues.

The Whitewater investigation of President Clinton lasted nearly 8 years, while the Iran-Contra investigation during Reagan’s presidency lasted almost 7 years. During George W. Bush’s presidency, an investigation of the Valerie Plame leaks lasted over 3 years. Hillary Clinton faced over 4 years of investigations into her actions during the Benghazi attack. By comparison, Mueller has only been investigating Russian election interference for 15 months.
